Egil's Saga

Egils saga or Egla as it is called is believed to be written early in the 13th century in Borgarfjoerdur, by Snorri Sturluson.

Egla is about Egill Skallagrimsson and his upbringing years at Borg a Myrar, where he became a great poet and fighter. When Egill was young he travelled to the Nordic countries, the Baltic countries and to England where he quarreled with many distinguished people. He died on Mosfell in the end of the 10th century.

Egils saga is known for its great and ancient poetry. Egils saga is thought to be related to sagas oof kings, and that's why Snorri is thought to be the writer of them. Many scripts in Egla have been written since the 13th century, but only two of them, both from the 19th century, are kept in the Landsbokasafnid in Iceland. All the older scripts are kept in foreign libraries.
