After having killed Hundingur at Bragalundur he fled with his army to Brunavogar, which was in Hogni's land and that is where Helgi met Sigrun Hognadottir and they fell in love.
King Granmar lived at Svarinshaugur. Sigrun was engaged to his son Hodbroddur without her consent. Sigrun became furious about the engagement and went looking for Helgi who was at that time fighting Hundingur's sons at Logafjoell. They finally met at Arasteinn.
Helgi then gathered his army and sailed to Frekasteinn. Hogni, Sigrun's father, and her brothers, Dagur and Bragi, were already there at Moinsheimar. The sons of Granmar were also there with their army along with lots of other leaders. Helgi and his men killed everyone except Dagur Hognason. Starkadur Granmarsson was killed at Styrkleifar and sons of Hrollaugur were killed at Hlebjorg.
Dagur avenged his father by killing Helgi at Fjoturlundur. Then he went to Sigrun who lived at Sefafjoll and gave her the news. He said he would give her Vigdalir and Vandilsve to pay for the damage he had done to her.
