Atlakvida is one of the Poetic Edda poems. The poem is about Gudrun Gjukadottir, who revenges the death of her two brothers, Hogni and Gunnar, in a cruel way. They visited Attila, who is Gudrun's husband. He lusts for their gold. Gunnar says he's going to tell Attila where the gold is hidden if he gets the heart of his brother Hogni. But really he wants to have Hogni killed so he would be the only one who knew where the gold was hidden. Gunnar took the secret about the gold with him into the wormhole which Attila had made for him.
When Attila returns home, after having just killed Gudrun's brothers, she revenges their death. She lets Attila eat his sons but he thinks that he's eating the meat of a young animal. When Gudrun tells hims the truth he is filled with sorrow. He doesn't get to Gudrun because he's too drunk. Gudrun escapes from the alehouse and burns down the palace and everybody inside dies.
