It all started when Thor woke up and realized that his hammer was missing.
He became furious. Then Thor found out that Thrymur the Giant had his hammer.
Thrymur refused to return the hammer unless Freyja, the godess of
love and fertility, would become his wife. Thor went to Freyja and asked
her to come to Jotunheimar (Giantworld) with him so she could marry Thrymur.
Freyja refused and would under no circumstances go with him.
The Aesir had a meeting and decided to dress Thor up as Freyja so he
could go to Jotunheimar. They also decided to dress Loki up as Freyja's
female slave.
They then went to Jotunheimar in a wagon. Thrymur greeted them
when they arrived with a feast. Thor stuffed himself with food but Thrymur
wouldn't understand how Freyja could eat so much. Loki explains by saying
that Freyja had been so exited when she found out that she would marry
Thrymur that she couldn't eat for 8 days.
When Thrymur lifted the veil over Freyja's face to kiss her, he was
taken aback by how mean her eyes were. Loki explained by saying that Freyja
had not been able to sleep because she looked forward to marrying Thrymur.
When the two men (Thrymur and Thor) went to the altar Thrymur said that
the cheerful maiden should have the hammer Mjolnir in her lap to initiate
them. It did not take Thor long to kill everyone in the wedding once he
got Mjolnir in his lap. He started by killing Thrymur. Then Loki and Thor
went back home to Asgard.
