Viðtöl

Frá fréttariturunum
Ásdísi, Guðrúnu og Héðni, í Landeyjum:

3. apríl árið 1000

Við rákumst óvænt á hóp Þjóðverja hér í Landeyjum og tókum þá tali. Viðtalið fór fram á engilsaxneskri tungu sem hinir þýðversku skildu prýðilega. Þjóðverjarnir voru: Thilo Munker, Barbara Tuchbreiter, Marian Friedl, Barbara Schober og Monika Jaretzke.

"How do you like Iceland?"

"It seems that there's good people here and nice nature. We think that the villages are too far away from each other. We wouldn't like to live here because it's too cold."

"What are you doing here in Iceland?"

"We were on our way to Scotland but caught a bad weather and ended in Iceland - in fact we crashed on the beach."

"What do you know about the vikings?"

"Well, Leif Ericsson is a brutal man. Thilo knows him." They all think that the Icelanders are stonger than the Germans and that they are good singers and good fighters.

Then the Germans said that they badly needed a ship so they cut down all the trees in Iceland to make a ship. They also need weapons. They've been sleeping in tents, made of the ship's sails, and have made fire by using grass and stones.

They told us that even if most of the Icelanders they've met are nice some of them look gready and want their broken ship. They are going to try to get back to Europe but need a guide. Thilo thinks that it might be prosperous to start a tourist bureau in Iceland. Marianne wants to become a nun so that she can help in christening the heathen Icelanders.
