Egil's saga

Egil's saga begins in Norway around 850 and the main events take part in Norway and in Iceland.

The saga tells about Egill Skalla-Grimsson and his relatives to the year 1000. It starts long before the birth of Egill and the first 30 chapters tell about the dispute of Egill's father and grandfather and the king of Norway. This dispute evenutally caused Egill's grandfather and Egill's father to move to Iceland with their faimilies.

Egill was born at Borg in Borgarfjoerdur 910. The saga tells about events in his youth. Then it tells about the viking voyages of Egill and Thorolfur, Egill's brother. Those voyages were often pretty dramatic. Egill lived to an old age and died 990. The saga then tells a bit about his descendants.
