Eiríkur
the Red went from Dímonarvogur
in Iceland and started searching for a new land. The first winter
he lived in Eiríksey (an island) , close by the middle of the Eastern
Settlement in Greenland. At spring time he went to Eiríksfjörður
and made himself a home there. During summertime he went
to the Eastern Wilderness and gave many places names. During
wintertime he stayed in Eiríkshólmar by Hvarfsgnípa.
Next summer he went north to Snæfell and into Hrafnsfjörður,
and all the way to bottom of Eiríksfjörður. He returned
from that trip and stayed the third winter on the island Eiríksey,
in Eiríksfjörður.
