Thordis was somewhat older than Ingibjoerg when she was married to an old chief, Thorvaldur Vatnsfirdingur, from the Westen Fjords, NW-Iceland. He had a lot to do with killings and various love affairs. He died when his house was burnt down but Thordis escaped and thus became a widow after a short marriage. She took over his farm in Vatnsfjoerdur.

Then she had a child with Olafur Aedeyingur but shortly afterwards she got together with Oddur Alason, who was a chieftain at Hrafnseyri in Arnarfjoerdur. He was married to another woman but left his family because of Thordis and later she had a daughter with him.

Oraekja, Thordis's brother, killed Oddur because he suspected him of a conspiracy against him. Thordis continued to live in Vatnsfjoerdur and for a while she was the most powerful person in that area of the country.
