Sigrun, one of the main characters, is a sort of a walkyrie and thus has the power of being able to fly on her horse.
In a battle between Helgi and the sons of Granmar, one man (a king) looses his head while fighting but still continues to fight DECAPITATED.
Dagur Hognason, Sigrun's brother, decides to avenge his father and brother. All he does is talk to Odin (the one and only). Odinn lent him his magical spear. Dagur kills Helgi and he goes to Valholl. Once there Odin invites him to rule as his equal.
Sigrun's slave walks to Helgi's grave and sees dead men riding horses come torwards her and Helgi is with them. She wondered if she was hallucinating, if it was the end of the world or if they had gotten permission to leave Valholl. Helgi denies everything and says that he only wants to meet Sigrun.
The slave goes to Sigrun and tells her the news. The slave says, "The grave is open. Helgi has come back. His wounds are bleeding. He is asking you, Sigrun, to come and stop the bleeding." Both Sigrun and Helgi are very happy to see each other. Sigrun sleeps with Helgi even though he is dead. How is that possible!!! Helgi then goes back to Valholl over the rainbow Bifrost.
When Sigun's slave saw Helgi after his death she thought it was a ghost. She felt sorry for Helgi because he was covered with blood after Sigrun's tears.
Sigrun thought it was great to be able to see her love again. She thought it was great to put her arms around him again even though he was covered in blood. She wanted to believe that Helgi had been reborn but when he told her the truth she decided to make them a comfortable bed. It is incredible that Helgi could return to talk to Sigrun and kiss her like he had never died or gone to Valholl.
